This privacy policy outlines the legislation by which personal information is stored and how it will be handled by Sian Thompson Counselling. It explains what information will be kept and why I need to process personal information.

Personal Information
The Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA) defines personal information as any information that can be used to identify a living individual. Individuals can be identified by various means including their name, address, telephone number or email address.

I need to process your personal information in order to fulfil my contractual obligations to you as a counsellor. Your personal information helps guide both my assessment process and my clinical decision-making during our work together. My contractual obligations to you as a counsellor are the lawful basis for my processing of your personal information.

I will collect your personal information in the following ways: via my website: www.sianthompsoncounselling.co.uk, over the phone, in writing and in person during our sessions. I will treat your personal information in a way that is compliant with the DPA and the GDPR. Physical records will be kept in a locked cabinet that only I have access to and digital records are finger print and password protected.

The Data Protection Act 1998 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) require organisations that store personal information to ensure that it is:
